Chatib Basri said through taxation of SMEs, small businesses can be a formal sector that positively impact the sustainability of their businesses.
He claimed the tax revenue of the SMEs are not too significant. "It's just a 1 percent tax. Goal is not to seek additional tax revenues," he said on Friday (28/06/2013).
He gave an example, if there are SMEs that have a turnover of Rp. 2.4 billion, to pay taxes at 1 percent of SMEs, they are only required to pay a tax of Rp 24 million per year or Rp 2 million per month.
That number, he said, the same as he paid Taxable Income (taxable income). In addition to making a formal sector SMEs, the SMEs also need to be given incentives, because before taxation of SMEs, the problem is they can not access credit to banks through legal books.
"Actually, we want to help SMEs. I'm sure they are happy, because by paying taxes, the government would facilitate all licensing process.'s That are in the process," claims Chatib.
Currently, he said, the Ministry of Finance is preparing regulations for the management of the Finance Minister Regulation (PMK). In addition, Chatib also ensure, as of July 1 2013, the SME tax has been applied.
This tax scheme, is believed to make the number of SMEs in the country increased from 55.2 million units this time. Labor can also be accommodated more than 101.72 million people.
