Indobusiness - The rupiah will continue to face a number of external pressures, including on Wednesday (05/01/2013). Rupiah is expected to move in the range of USD 9725-9735 per U.S. dollar.

In yesterday's trading, the exchange rate closed lower at Rp 9734 per U.S. dollar (exchange rate Bloomberg) amid strengthening most other Asian currencies, including the yen strengthened to 97.4 per U.S. dollar.

Strengthening also occurred on the Indonesian Stock Exchange (IDX) which again reached a new record high at 5034.07 levels (0.69 percent) to follow in the majority of Asian markets. The Dow is still up to 14839.8 and Bond yields on 10-year Treasury rose to 1.673 percent (+0.002).

Varied global market closed yesterday's trading. To this day, according to economist Samuel Securities Indonesia, Lana Soelistianingsih, Asian markets tend to be varied. Meanwhile, the index tends corrected after reaching a record negative sentiment due to the delay and price hike of fuel subsidy. "We expect the rupiah fell slightly in the range of Rp. 9735-9740 per dollar in the U.S.," said Lana.
