Indobusiness - Airbus's latest aircraft, the A350, will undergo its maiden flight in Europe, Friday (14/06/2013). A350 is scheduled to take off from the prime city of Toulouse, France, where the aircraft is assembled.
Airbus A350 designed to be more fuel efficient and will be a major competitor of US-made aircraft, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Dreamliner has so far been considered popular since first airing in 2009, although they had landed again following a battery problem that could interfere with aircraft safety.
The aircraft is seen as crucial to the future of Airbus, mainly related to competition with Boeing in the airline providing the world with new planes. Currently, the airline is experiencing a crisis of decline in passenger numbers and high fuel costs that are looking for a more efficient aircraft fuel.
Big Leap
Just like the Dreamliner, the A350 made most use a mixture of lightweight carbon material to reduce the weight of the aircraft. Airbus has so far received 600 orders for new aircraft, but still far from the number of orders Dreamliner.
They expect the first A350 deliveries to customers could begin in late 2014.Analysts, the success of this first flight will be a huge stepping stone for the project because most manufacturers A350 aircraft often experience delays. "All the previous program, either by Airbus, Boeing, and others, often experiencing technical problems and delays,'' said Nick Cunningham, an analyst from agencies Agency Partners in London, told AFP news agency.
"So, every time you touch a stepping stone like the first flight, it is good news because it means you're missing an opportunity to experience a huge delay,'' added Nick.
