The Majority Of Food Products Prices Experienced Upward Trend Increasing To 100%

Jakarta - The majority of food products such as soy, rice, sugar, corn and meat prices experienced upward trend increasing to 100% as from 2009 to 2012. Kamar Dagang dan Industri (Kadin) Indonesia sniff cartel practices as price increases were not normal. "Companies suspected cartel known. Why is the government not acting?" asked the Chairman of Kadin Indonesia LP3E Ina Primiana when discussing with the media at the Chamber of Commerce Building Kuningan Jakarta, Thursday (07/02/2013).

This explains the increase in food commodity prices up to 100% starting from 2009-2012. For him is a tremendous advantage. Just imagine for food imports Indonesia has reached Rp 90 trillion, and profits importers 15-30%. "Imported goods are much cheaper than local goods. So there are inefficiencies in the supply chain," he said.

He added that the statement is supported by KEN report (Komite Ekonomi Nasional) who said a number of local food products often suffer cartel practices. "KEN report said a number of local food products often suffer cartel practices. Suspected cartel control prices, stocks, and food supplies," he said.
