Lotte Petrochemical Interested In Investing In Indonesia

Jakarta - The Company manufacturers of petrochemical raw materials from South Korea, Lotte Petrochemical interested in investing in Indonesia. The company has targeted an area of 100 hectares in Cilegon, West Java.

So that was disclosed by the Director General of the Ministry of Industry, Industrial Manufacturing, Susanto Panggah when met at the Ministry of Industry, on Friday (15/02/2013).

"Investors from South Korea have expressed interest to set up a petrochemical plant materials such as Polyethylene and Polypropylene 100 hectares in Cilegon, West Java," said Panggah.

He said the investment will be issued by this company at U.S. $ 5 billion. However, no definite time when the company will start building the factory. He said the sooner the better.

"The investment of up to U.S. $ 5 billion, depending on the starting and finishing legal issues can hopefully be resolved soon. So, we can begin," he continued.

For the construction of the plant itself, further Panggah will take a maximum of up to 4 years. Later, if it had been in operation, the company is likely to be cooperating with local partners in the country.

"They're again looking for. Could PT Pertamina (Persero) or another local partner," he said.

He further said the government welcomed the investment. Because, if realized, imports of petrochemical raw materials that have reached U.S. $ 6 billion per year will be reduced by 20%.

"As polyethilyne, polyprophelyne, paraceline, polyctrien. Yang imports reached U.S. $ 5-6 billion annually. Importance of this project is that it will produce a variety of materials, so it can not only meet domestic demand but also the rest of the exportable ., and can also increase our competitiveness, "he said.
